Director of Plant Operations

Our client is an international company and leader in designing and manufacturing components and systems for the regulation and metering of natural gas. Located in Italy our client has been in business for the past 70 years, with 11 facilities worldwide the company is experiencing growth and expanding its North-American HQ. We have been retained to recruit a Director of Operations for our client’s North-American HQ located in Weirton, WV.
The Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead daily operational activities of the plant, ensuring alignment with the policies, goals, and objectives established by the Vice President.
- Drive the implementation, refinement, and optimization of systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and promote clear communication and information flow across all departments.
- Manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) performance of the North American subsidiary, ensuring economic targets are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate in the development and execution of short-term and long-term strategic plans and budgets that align with overall organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee and support key functions, including Supply Chain, Quality Assurance & Control, Human Resources, Plant Operations, Manufacturing, and Health & Safety, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
- Lead talent acquisition, retention, and development efforts to build and maintain a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The candidate:
We’re seeking a hands-on leader with proven experience managing teams in a production environment. The ideal candidate leads by example, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to tackle challenges head-on. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a passion for mentorship and team-building, are essential for creating a cohesive and high-performing work environment.
To be successful in this role you need:
- A minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment, with 2–5 years in a leadership role managing teams and plant operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing P&L and KPIs.
- Prior experience with the managing the opening of a new plant is highly desirable but not a must.
- Prior experience leading teams: create effective succession planning strategies and increase retention.
- Proficiency in TPS/Lean Management principles and tools. Experience in SWOT analysis and strategic planning is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management is essential.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required for candidates with equivalent experience and expertise.
